Who Are You Really?

Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish  of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. SO God created man in his own image, in the image of God created He them; male and female created  He them.

So it just so happens that we are all divinely created by the same entity that created the entire cosmos. This scripture so eloquently states that we are not only made by God but also made to be like Him. We are made with a piece of Him in us from the beginning, we don’t have to buy it or ask for it, it’s already there. Think about your earthly mother and father. When they had you, there was a piece of both of them that you automatically received. A son in many cases sees the things his father does, and tries to mimic his movements. The same with a daughter and mother. Now consider this, God put Himself in us so that we could have the same privilege of mimicking our Father’s movements. Our Father is the Creator of Creators, and if we have a part of Him in us, what does He intend for us to do? Well the answer is quite simple, but once you understand it, it will literally blow you away.

In Genesis 1, it talks about how God created the universe. Now to understand how it was done you have to understand some things about God. He is a spirit. Which means in the beginning, there was Him. John 1:1 says in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. So if you put that with Gen. 1, where it says that God SAID let there be light, THEN there was, AFTER that He saw the light. So when God speaks, things happen! God is a like a colossal mind. When God thinks something, it happens and then it is seen and it is good! He gives us the same ability here on earth, but understand you must not esteem things of the natural above those of the spirit. The reason God makes things happen instantly is one because He created it, but things happen now in the spirit and it takes time for them to transpire in the natural. So basically God made us creators. You ever wonder how, the more you think about something and talk about something, that it tends to happen. Its because you are creating it with your mind and sowing the seed with your words. That’s what it means when we say speak things into existence, because we know that when God spoke it came, and the same thing goes for us. You really start to make things happen when you speak as if you are God saying it. Now don’t get caught up with that, we know that we are not God. But think about it like this, you remember when you guys would go into your dad’s closet and put on his tie or you ladies would go and put on mommy’s heels and make-up? Just look at as you are putting on God’s clothes and acting like you are Him. Sometimes dad would get upset with you, but deep down he thought it was adorable and loved that you wanted to be like him. God feels the same way. Always remember that creators work the mind, and make their realities.

In Exodus 7:1, God told Moses that He made him a god to Pharaoh and made Aaron his prophet. Yes it says that! You are no different than Moses, except the time period in which you were born. So that basically validates what was said before about God wanting us to be like Him. This is how Moses was able to do all of the miracles he did, it was God working through Him. If you read the scripture, Moses didn’t want to do it originally. He had a speech impediment, but God just wanted to act like Him and He would step in and handle the rest. Isn’t God awesome!

The last point I want to make comes from II Corinthians 3:18, which says But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. This reality really messed me up. You know that when a parent looks at their child, they see a piece of themselves in their child. Likewise when a child looks at their parent. But how do we see God? The scripture clearly states to look in the mirror! The more you can look at yourself in the mirror and see God staring back at you, the more you will be transformed to be like Him. Think about it, if you choose to see a situation as bad, that’s how it will end up, and vice versa. Same principle goes for yourself. That is when you will start to become who God really intended for you to be. There is a visual my Apostle gives about tapping into power. To tap into power, you must understand how eternity works. There is eternity past, eternity present, and eternity future and each plays an important part of who you are. In eternity past is who you are prior to being born, when you are with God in spirit. Then you are born into the natural and you pass from eternity past to eternity present. Now you truly tap into power when you realize who you are in eternity future, while you are still in eternity present. If you spend some time with God and allow Him to show you who you really are, it will truly change your life. You will also find that things you used to worry about, are a waste of your time even thinking about.

“When you don’t know who you are, you tend to act like who you think you are.”  This quote and the bulk of this article were taken from a message from Apostle W.
