My First Love- My Long Time Love Affair With Breakfast Cereal

By

I had fallen in love with her at a very young age. Hers was the first name I uttered aloud, and I enjoyed many, many days sitting and consuming every bit of her essence. I would dream about her, and even call her name out in the midst of my dreams. It could be morning, noon, or night I just had to be with her as often as possible and I am convinced she felt the same way about me.
This love I am speaking of is cereal. Yes, I know it is a little strange but yes I had fallen madly in love with cereal. So much, that it was indeed my first words. Not mommy, daddy, or potty but cereal. I have some very fond memories in my childhood, getting up around 6:15 am and brushing my teeth and rushing to the kitchen to dive into a heaping bowl of Frosted Flakes and enjoying them amidst the previous days episode of Power Rangers. It never failed, I had to have it and my day would not go right if I did not. Then I would ride the bus to school, and I received free lunch because of my family’s financial disability so I would have yet another bowl. My day was at that point astounding! Then after school, I would rush home and pour up another bowl and have at it again while watching X-Men and Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles. As Spider-Man was coming on, my mom would be coming home so I would try my best to scarf down another bowl before she got there. It was an intense love affair, but I am so much stronger because of it.
I never really had a preference, it just really depended on how I felt that moment. I like everything from Frosted Flakes, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cookie Crisp, Apple Jacks, and Honey Nut Cheerios. My favorite thing to do is mix two kinds together. Don’t ask me why, its just something about having one of your favorite cereals and halfway through you reach another one. It really gets the adrenaline pumping! The best combination I believe would be Frosted Flakes, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Make sure you put the Cinnamon Toast Crunch on the bottom, because the Frosted Flakes get soggy sooner and I hate cereal that doesn’t crunch when I chew it. I am not supposed to be eating baby food!
Now that I am an adult, I look back at my life and I get really excited about my future. I still see cereal every now and again, just not quite as often because I am a busy man. Not to mention, the price has gone up and its hard to keep her around! Though the thing that makes me most excited is when I find a woman that has the same feelings I do about cereal, and can treat me half as good as she does I believe I have found my true purpose in life. To love and be loved by my beautiful wife and share it over a gigantic bowl of our favorite cereal.

This is one of the best hubs I have read! I love the excitement and intensity in your words! The deep longing desires to keep that love alive! Even if it was about cereal! You are an amazing writer! You make me wanna eat a bowl right now! I too love cereal. I never liked milk until I tried it with cereal! But even so...I always use a little milk and twice as much cereal! Weird huh? It's just how I roll lol. But yes...I too share the same passion for cereal! My favorite is Fruit Loops! And yes Cinnammon Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Flakes, and Trix. Oh yeah! And Cookie Crisp! I guess all the ones high in sugar lol!

OMGosh I LOVE Cookies Crisp! And thank you so much for your kind words, they are very inspirational to me. I always said that if I can help influence just one person with my writing I have done my job. More cereal than milk is the way to go though! I had a cup full of Cinnamon Toast Crunch last night before I went to bed and slept like a sugar-filled baby. Here's to the best part of the day, BREAKFAST! lol
